A Visit occurs when a remote computer request any of your web pages for the first time. If the visit from that computer is repeated within a given timeout period, it will be still considered as the same visit.

A Hit occurs when one of various files residing on your server has been requested (web page, graphic, video, java applet, etc.). If a given web page has 10 photos and 4 movie clips viewing only this page will produce 15 hits.
